it first started with the realization that i can indeed choose my own
attitude- that combined with where i see God most, in nature.
california has been a playground for me because of this, constant
sunshine, towering redwood trees, intimidatingly powerful waves. i feel
peaceful. i feel taken care of. i look at the landscape engulfing me
and KNOW that He is there. every aspect of california schools is outside.
the hallways, the cafeterias. i have a constant reminder of His presence
even when i am walking to make copies. i step outside and have an instant visual
of mountains lining the horizon. this constant reassurance has motivated me
to pay it forward. i am capable and have the means and the CHOICE on how much energy,
thought, and passion i put into every aspect of my day. with my job
i am constantly being watched, modeled, looked at for comfort and
guidance. for many of my students i am the main role model and i have a
very short span of time to show them what i have learned. i have come
to realize that the many facets of literacy that i preach the
importance of daily are really at the bottom of the totem pole in my
goals with the kids. i truly just want them to see the goodness, faith,
and joy in my heart and to carry it on in their own. sometimes i feel
overwhelmed with this responsibility and excitement to share this joy
with them but trust Him to assist me along the way, even in the small aspects of my day;
i truly believe i am a part of this program for a reason.
in one month i will have to set my students free but have faith
that i will shine His light to other students in my future teaching endeavors.
